AI training for a small business costs anywhere from $49 per person for a self-paced online course to about $1,500 to $5,000 for a private live session for a team of up to 10, based on prices published on provider websites as of October 31, 2026.
Multi-day and multi-week programs priced per person run $2,795 to $3,850 each. The sections below show the published prices, the per-person math, and what moves the number up or down.
What do AI training providers charge in 2026?
These prices come from public pages checked on October 31, 2026. Most custom corporate programs do not publish a price, so this table leans toward providers that do.

Prices change, and several of these pages say so. Treat the table as a snapshot and confirm the current price before you budget.
What does that cost for a team of 10?
The same team can pay very different amounts depending on whether the provider charges per person or per session.
| Approach | Math | Total for 10 people | Per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| One month of a self-paced course | 10 × $49 | $490 | $49 |
| Public 3-hour live online class | 10 × $399 | $3,990 | $399 |
| Private 4-hour session (SafeLab Essentials) | $2,500 flat, up to 10 people | $2,500 | $250 |
| Private 4-hour session with interviews and automations (SafeLab Strategy) | $5,000 flat, up to 10 people | $5,000 | $500 |
| 2-day certificate program | 10 × $2,795 | $27,950 | $2,795 |
| 6-week executive program | 10 × $3,850 | $38,500 | $3,850 |
For most small teams, per-person programs make sense for one or two leads who will drive AI use across the company. Everyone else usually gets more from a shared session on the tools they already use.
How does that compare with what companies spend on training overall?
Training magazine's 2025 Training Industry Report, which covers organizations with 100 or more employees, found that small companies in the study spent $1,091 per learner on all training in 2025, more than midsize ($782) or large companies ($468). The overall average was $874 per learner, and employees received 40 hours of training a year on average.
Against that benchmark, a private AI session at $250 to $500 per attendee is well below what the small companies in that study spent per learner across a year of training.
What drives the price of AI training up or down?
Five factors explain most of the spread.
- Per-person versus per-session pricing. Public classes and certificates charge per seat. Private sessions charge a flat fee with an attendee cap.
- Customization. A session built from staff interviews and your own workflows takes more prep than a standard curriculum. That prep is what SafeLab's Strategy plan adds over Essentials.
- Length and format. One hour of demo costs less than four hours of hands-on practice, and multi-week programs cost the most.
- Setup work. Some providers configure tools during or after training, such as connectors or automations inside your AI account. Ask whether that is included.
- Follow-up. Check-ins, office hours, and refreshers may be bundled or billed separately.
Is the cheapest option good enough?
It depends on whether your team will find time to use it. The Conference Board's July 2026 study of nearly 1,300 workers found only 48% agree their organization gives them enough time during work hours to build AI skills, and that most organizations focus training on foundational skills. A $49 course depends entirely on that time.
The amount of training also matters. BCG's June 2025 AI at Work survey of more than 10,600 employees found that regular AI use is sharply higher among employees who get at least five hours of training and have access to in-person training and coaching. A one-hour webinar falls well short of that.
The goal of training is better work: clearer client emails, faster answers, fewer errors, and less time on copy-and-paste tasks so people can focus on the parts of the job that need them. The practical rollout for training employees on AI shows how to get there in four weeks.
What do SafeLab's AI training plans cost?
SafeLab, an AI consulting firm in Irvine, publishes two fixed-price AI training plans:
- Essentials, $2,500. A 4-hour hands-on session for up to 10 staff, built on the AI tools the team already pays for. It covers prompting, connector setup, skills and other features that help with everyday tasks, and safe data habits for client information.
- Strategy, $5,000. Everything in Essentials, plus a pre-training staff questionnaire, up to five 30-minute staff interviews, training built around how the team works, and three customized automation setups in the team's AI tool. It is also a 4-hour session for up to 10 attendees.
Teams larger than 10 get a custom quote.
For a sense of what training tied to real workflows can produce: in one anonymized engagement, a home care agency cut the time to schedule an open shift by 87% after an audit, on-site training, and two automations built around software the office already used.
What other costs should you plan for?
The training fee is only part of the budget.
- Staff time. Ten people in a 4-hour session is 40 staff hours. Schedule it like any other important meeting.
- Tool licenses. Training works best on accounts your team will keep using. If you just bought seats, read you've purchased ChatGPT for your team, now what.
- A usage policy. Your team needs written rules on what data may go into AI tools. The AI usage policy guide has a template.
- Follow-up. Budget for at least one check-in in the month after training, whether the provider runs it or someone on your team does.
How do you pick a provider once you know the budget?
Price is one input. The format, the trainer's hands-on experience, the data rules, and the follow-up plan matter at least as much. The full checklist and the questions to ask on a sales call are in how to choose an AI training provider. For local options, see the lists for Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego.
The bottom line
Expect to pay $49 per person for a self-paced course, around $400 per person for a short public class, $1,500 to $5,000 for a private session for a team of up to 10, and $2,795 to $3,850 per person for multi-day or multi-week programs. For most small teams, a flat-fee, hands-on session on the tools you already use, followed by a month of practice on real tasks, gives the best result for the money.
